Last fall, we announced the grand opening of the convention center expansion at Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Resort. Listed as one of the  most notable Central Florida Venue Opening of 2018 by BizBash, this expansion is just one of the ways we are making exciting investments in our meetings business at Walt Disney World Resort. 

Let’s take a look at the newest space designed to elevate the meeting and event experience: 

The convention center expansion provides an additional 28,000 square feet, offering planners nearly 100,000 square feet of flexible meeting and event space at this exceptional Walt Disney World Resort location. Attendees will enter through the Newport Lobby & Gallery, which has three pre-function areas and two distinct gathering rotundas for networking.

The new 16,000-square-foot Newport Ballroom is divisible into eight dynamic breakouts. This versatile space is ideal for general sessions, meetings, ceremonies, networking events, and celebrations, making it a flexible location to meet any group’s needs.

In addition to the new expansion, we’ve also refurbished the pre-existing function space. Upon entering the convention center lobby, attendees will experience the refreshed look and feel to this nautical-themed space. With a fresh coat of paint and new furniture, carpet, wood floor, wall coverings, and lighting, this welcoming convention center is in its prime. 

Grand Harbor Lobby & Asbury Rotunda 

As part of the convention center’s reimagining, every existing meeting and event space was refreshed. Two new rooms, Seaview Room and Bourne Room, were transformed into designated meeting planner offices as an added convenience for groups. 

Stonington Boardroom

Attendees will find upgrades throughout the rest of the convention center to match the look and feel of the new expansion – plus great amenities and state-of-the-art technology that were purposefully-built into the meeting spaces. These updates include multiple outlets for charging laptops and cell phones, as well as high-capacity Internet connectivity and hard-wired services in meeting rooms, ballrooms, and convention foyers at no or low cost.

The convention center is just one of the many exciting additions that groups can experience when they add Disney. While meeting at Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Resort, attendees can also enjoy the renovation of more than 1,190 Guest rooms and new dining options, including Ale & Compass Restaurant, Ale & Compass Lounge, and The Market at Ale & Compass.
