If you’ve been following our “Behind the Scenes with Disney Meetings” series, you saw that in Kyla Heap’s last adventure, she met with Disney Floral Manager Rose Mogol and Disney Catering Sous Chef Rob Alvarado to finalize the details for her event. This year, Kyla decided to host her dinner event at the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular! Theater at Disney’s Hollywood Studios for an adventure-themed private group experience. With all the details in place, the show was ready to begin!
There were several surprises throughout the night for the attendees. One of the big surprises was how Kyla incorporated the show into the event, and her attendees were seated right in the middle of the action. Some Guests were even recruited to participate and be extras in the show! As one attendee said, “It’s all for us! It was our own personal show.”
The attendees were delighted by all the details Kyla chose to bring the event to life. The venue was decorated with jewel-toned linens, vibrant floral centerpieces, and ornamental golden candles to immerse attendees in the setting to make them feel like they were truly dining in a Cairo bazaar. During the meal, Kyla arranged for special entertainment, including a DJ dance party and a belly dancer, to engage her attendees and follow the theme.
The evening’s menu consisted of several adventurous action stations, featuring couscous with dried fruits, fennel heirloom beans with spices, quick-seared lamb chops with wild berry gastrique, carved deep-fried turkey breast with berbere BBQ sauce, and grilled flatbread with hummus. For dessert, attendees were treated to a liquid-nitrogen action station featuring nitro-fried Nutella mousse truffle with raspberry sauce and “pixie dust”.
When asked if FBMC would return to Walt Disney World Resort for their event next year, President David Faulkenberry enthusiastically shared, “There’s no question, we’re going to come back! This is our fifth year, and we hope to do it for five more and then many, many beyond that.”’
Kyla Heap was thrilled with how the whole event came together and how the Disney team helped to make it happen. “I think that the Disney difference is that [Disney] has a way of bringing your idea into a reality. They really make magic happen and make it all into more than what you could’ve dreamed,” Heap said.
