Let’s meet Felix Rivera Jr., Entertainment Manager of Disney Creative Media at the Walt Disney World Resort:
How do you and your team work with meeting and event planners?
My team makes magic for meeting and events by capturing candid and studio photography. We try to make selecting a photography package easy for meeting and event planners. We created a simple-to-understand breakdown of the most popular and most frequently requested services that we think groups will enjoy the most. This helps the majority of the groups coming through find exactly what they need very easily. We are also able to speak with planners that are looking for something that is a little different or off-the-beaten path and provide them with a custom solution to get the photographic experience they are looking for.
Can you describe one of your best Disney memories related to your position assisting a convention/meeting group?
We had a request to do a group photo for 5,000 attendees. This was not a challenge, until we were told that we had 5 minutes to take the shot before the fireworks began. We got the shot in 4 minutes and it looked great! It was exactly what the client was looking for.
What is one of the greatest Disney Differences for attendees meeting at a Disney destination?
Being a part of a team with seemingly unlimited creativity is sometimes hard to put into words. But that works for us since we are visual. As a team, we are able to collaborate to prepare for what’s next, be in place, and always get “The Shot.”
What are some of the latest, most innovative trends you are seeing in the industry? How do you incorporate these trends into your client’s meeting or event?
One of the newest pieces of technology that we have incorporated allows us to have what we call a virtual background. We can photograph a person or a small team in front of this and immediately change the backgrounds. One minute they can be in Magic Kingdom Park, and the next they are at Disney Springs. It is a great way to add something uniquely Disney to any event. And we are able to deliver the photographs through the most convenient method for the client, whether it be via microsite, print, or email on site!
What is your favorite part of your role?
I love leading a team of photographers who are excited to go out each and every day and create memories for all of the guests that we encounter.
