On April 6, 2017, our Disney Meetings team, along with meeting and event-industry professionals from around the globe came together to support Global Meetings Industry Day (#GMID17). The annual initiative was created to showcase the impact that meetings, conferences, conventions and incentive travel have on people, business and communities worldwide. 

The meetings industry is an economic engine, creating hundreds of thousands of jobs, generating billions of dollars in revenue and supporting communities across the country. According to a recent PwC study, the industry contributed more than $280 billion to the national economy in 2012. In fact, the industry contributes more to the United States national GDP than the air transportation, motion picture, sound recording, performing arts and spectator sport industries.

Each day, thousands of our talented Cast Members at Walt Disney World Resort, Disneyland Resort, Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa, Disneyland Paris, and Hong Kong Disneyland Resort play a part in providing excellent service to our Guests attending meetings, conferences, tradeshows and other special events held at our Disney Parks and Resorts. So, of course, they  were eager to join in the celebration and share what this industry means to our Disney destinations.

Our regionally based Cast Members located throughout the U.S. participated in industry events, gave back to their local communities and visited key landmarks in their respective regions to help advocate for the industry. From Knoxville, Tenn., to Chicago, Ill. to Washington, D.C., our team was excited to share and capture images representing how meetings mean business to them in a fun and unique way.

Even our resort sales and marketing teams based in Orlando, Fla. had a lot of fun demonstrating their support for this globally-recognized day.
